Expression of Interest from a Family or Friend Carer for Sponsorship to attend the 7th International Carers Conference in Adelaide 4-6th October 2017
HelpingMinds® values the input and knowledge of family members and friends who are in a caring role. In order to support family members and friends who are in a caring role to hear from other carers, service providers and academics, there is an opportunity to attend the 7th International Carers Conference in Adelaide from 4-6th October 2017.
What is being offered?
Two carers will receive funding to cover their travel and accommodation costs as well as their conference registration. You will be responsible for meals and other incidentals not provided at the conference.
What are we asking of you in return?
We would like to hear about your experiences when you return and we hope that you would share those experiences with our staff and other carers either in writing or in person, depending on what you are most comfortable with. We would also be keen to see some photos from the conference and would like to use those in our newsletters and social media as part of sharing the conference information with others.
Who is eligible to apply?
Western Australians with lived experience of providing ongoing unpaid care to a family member or friend who needs your support due to an ongoing mental health issue. Carers aged under over 16 and under 18years are eligible to apply if an appropriate adult is travelling with them at their own expense.
How to apply?
Please complete the questions on the attached and submit by June 30. If you would like any assistance in completing the form, please contact Donna.turner@helpingminds.org.au for support. Once applications have been assessed, two carers will be chosen and advised by mid July. Our staff will work with you to complete your conference registration and other bookings. You will not be expected to pay any costs upfront.
