When a person develops mental health challenges there is often a family member, friend or kin around them who are supporting them on their journey to social and emotional well-being. This can include practical support such as attending appointments with the person and providing emotional support.
Everyone involved has better outcomes when services welcome and involve the person’s chosen family, friends and kin as partners in service planning and delivery.
