Changing Minds
This program is a free innovative school education program aimed at secondary school students in the Perth metro area and 200km from Perth City.
The Changing Minds program addresses a wide range of information around mental illness and mental wellbeing. The program is flexible and can be tailored to a schools schedule and particular mental health concerns.
Throughout three, one hour workshops, the Changing Minds program aims
to increase accurate knowledge and understanding about:
Module 1: Starting Conversations
• Mental health & mental illness
• Symptoms and misconceptions
• Appropriate mental health services
Module 2: Facing Challenges
• Risk factors:
• Drugs and alcohol
• Healthy vs. unhealthy relationships
• Social media
Module 3: Positive Choices
• How to stay mentally healthy
• Coping and resilience strategies
• Mindfulness meditation session
HelpingMinds® also offers schools the following one hour workshops:
Social Media Workshop
Our one hour Social Media workshop aims to increase knowledge
and understanding about:
• Positives of social media
• Social media and links to mental health issues
• Not believing everything you see on social media:
– Body image “Essena O’Neil” case study
– Who we’re talking to
– Sifting through the junk
• Cyber bullying
• Tips for healthy and safe social media use
Academic Resilience Workshops
Our one hour Academic Resilience workshop aims to increase
knowledge and understanding about:
• Staying mentally healthy
• Positive self-talk
• Time management
• Goal setting
• Where students can get help
• Mindfulness meditation session
