What’s in it for you?
Participation consists of a private voluntary 60-90 minutes (approx.) interview with a trained researcher at a location suitable to you (local café/your home/HelpingMinds® office) and/or one 90 minutes (approx.) group discussion held at HelpingMinds® Perth office. As a thank you for your time, you will receive a $60 voucher for the interview and a $60 voucher for the group discussion. You will be reimbursed for any travel costs.
Who are you?
You are aged 18 or over and; you are caring for a family member or a friend who has a mental health condition and; they have experienced difficulties with their housing situation, including homelessness, now or in the past. If you are receiving services yourself, taking part in this study, does not have any impact on any services you might receive, or your relationship with your service provider.
Why this research?
We want to learn more about people’s housing and mental health experiences and preferences. We believe this research will help improve mental health and housing systems to enable people with mental health issues to access and sustain affordable and appropriate housing. The evidence indicates that poor mental health is a risk factor for homelessness, and that unstable housing and homelessness are risk factors for poor mental health.
Who are we?
This research project is being conducted by Mind Australia, in collaboration with HelpingMinds® and the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute.
