HelpingMinds is a finalist for the Lifeline Promotion and Prevention Award 2021!

HelpingMinds announced Mental Health Award finalist!

We are absolutely delighted to confirm that HelpingMinds has been announced as a finalist in this year’s Prevention or Promotion Award category! Sponsored by Lifeline WA, the Prevention or Promotion Award goes to the organisation, group or project for “outstanding contribution to prevention and/or promotion in mental health”.

On Monday 11 October, Minister for Mental Health, the Hon. Stephen Dawson, announced the finalists for the annual WA Mental Health Awards. Each year, this highly coveted event is presented by the Western Australian Association for Mental Health (WAAMH) to showcase the steadfast commitment and contributions to mental health by individuals and teams in our workplaces, schools, and the community.

Ms Nienke Rozendaal, Marketing & Health Promotions Lead, and her team comprising of Jessica Sutton, Graphic Designer, and Rebecca Sneddon, Digital Marketing Officer, developed a 7-day social media campaign during Mental Health Week and Carers Week 2020.  The aim of the campaign was to raise awareness of mental health and educate the community on how to help another person who is experiencing mental health challenges.

The campaign reached over 46,000 people in total, 30,000 of them were reached through Facebook and over the course of the campaign nearly 9,500 people either shared, viewed, commented, or clicked on the campaign. The campaign was 100% ‘organic’; meaning that HelpingMinds did not invest any money to advertise this campaign on social media.

Overarching topics addressed by the campaign were (1) how to identify a mental health carer and (2) how to support someone who is experiencing mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, delusions or who has lost someone to suicide. . There were two social media posts per day for 7-days. A mix of infographics, blogs, and videos were posted to communicate the messages about the topics to HelpingMinds followers.  The campaign ran across 4 social media channels: Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter.

Our 7-day social media awareness campaign addressed the following topics:

  1. Mental health is something we all have – so let’s talk about it!
  2. What to do when someone is having a panic attack
  3. How to support someone who is experiencing delusions

  5. What to do when someone is experiencing depression

  9. What is carer counselling?
  10. What can you learn in counselling?
