Mental Health Week 2018

Mental Health Week and Carers Week 2018

This year, the theme of WA Mental Health Week, 7 – 14 October, is all about community and the various settings we go to every day where we can support the well being of ourselves and others:

Mental health starts where we live, learn, work and play

National Carers Week, 14 – 20 October, is about recognising and celebrating the unpaid carers in our community.  At HelpingMinds® we support the families and individuals that care for someone close to them who lives with mental health challenges.

This year HelpingMinds® have put together some events and resources for Mental Health Week and Carers Week that may help you or someone you know with their own mental health.

Minds Matter Booklet

People often forget or feel that they don’t have time to look after their own mental health, or they don’t know how to discuss mental health with someone close to them. To help HelpingMinds® has created a booklet that has:

  • Useful tips and activities about how to look after your own mental health
  • Tips on how to start a conversation about mental health with someone close to you
  • Stories from people living with mental health challenges and from those who are supporting them (view all their stories here)
  • Statistics and information about mental health

Mental Health Week and Carers Week Events

HelpingMinds® along with a few other organisations have created some events to celebrate Mental Health Week and Carers Week, these events are a great opportunity to try something new and to meet other people that are experiencing similar situations.

There is a range of activities so hopefully there is something that suits your taste. If not, don’t worry, we have events on all year round – please visit our events page to find out more. If you’d like to be kept up to date with new groups that are running sign up to the HelpingMinds® Newsletter.
