Being equipped with mental health first aid skills will enable you to support a friend, family member or co-worker, whether they are developing a mental health challenge or are in a mental health crisis. You can make a real difference in a person’s life – or even save their life.
Topics covered include:
How to recognise developing mental health concerns, such as:
– Anxiety disorders
– Depression
– Alcohol and drug concerns
– Psychosis
How to assist during a mental health crisis, such as:
– Panic attack
– Traumatic event
– Self harm, suicidal thoughts & behaviour
– Aggressive behaviour
– Severe effects from alcohol and drug use
Course details
The 12-hour Standard Mental Health First Aid course teaches any adult how to provide initial support to someone who is experiencing a mental health problem or crisis.
