HelpingMinds® offers a range of Community Services for Mental Health in Perth for children, youth, parents, families and carers. Our variety of free and informative services, including workshops, help educate the community about mental health and reduce the stigma associated with mental challenges.
At HelpingMinds®, we believe in the power of education and positive interaction to help individuals who were disconnected from their family and friends due to being affected by mental health challenges, to connect with their community and ease the burden and stress that they are experiencing every day.
Raising mental health awareness is a priority of HelpingMinds®. As part of our Community Services for Mental Health, we provide a range of online resources and conduct workshops dedicated to exploring different mental health challenges and how individuals and carers are affected. With our team based in Midland, Carnarvon, Geraldton and Broome, our educational programs are accessible to surrounding suburbs, including the City of Swan, Gascoyne, Midwest and Kimberley.
HelpingMinds® delivers a range of workshops, facilitated by qualified counsellors, to support the mental wellbeing of young people, adolescents, and adults. We host our classrooms or workshops in a nurturing environment where everyone can come together in a safe space to work on achieving positive mental health goals.
All sessions can be tailored to the cultural needs or interests of your community. We have mental health education programs for children aged 6-18 which can be arranged by the school and presented in their classrooms. Education for teachers, faculty and the school community can also be conducted in your facility.
HelpingMinds® regularly conducts free mental health community workshops for kids, teens, parents and families all over Western Australia, including Perth, Broome, Carnarvon and Geraldton. Our workshops affect entire communities and are not limited to:
While we hold many of our workshops at HelpingMinds® offices, several are held outside of our offices. We frequently facilitate retreats and outdoor events in local communities, including walks in the park while you converse with your peer, or a picnic by the beach as you and the community discuss how to cope with being affected by mental health issues.
This community service by HelpingMinds® matches you with a Peer Support Worker that can serve as your ally. Carer Peer Support Workers are individuals who look out for Carers by lending a listening ear and offering sound advice. Since Peer Support Workers have had the same experience that Carers are now going through, they are qualified to share their stories and help Carers process what they are going through so that they won’t feel isolated.
Our Peer Support Program is designed to help Carers have a friend or a confidant that they can share their thoughts and emotions so that they can destress and take care of their mental health. If you would like to receive a Peer Support Worker, please get in touch with Helpingminds® on (08) 9427 7100 or send us an online message.
HelpingMinds® is an NDIS provider which offers free mental health support to the family and friends of people living with mental ill-health across WA. We partner with Australia’s leading organisations to reach people affected by a mental health condition across Regional and Metro WA through our series of Community Services for Mental Health.
Our regular workshops, events and support groups provide a safe environment for carers and families to come together and offer each other support, share experiences, coping skills, information and build a sense of empowerment and take away some of those feelings of distress, exhaustion and isolation.
