When someone in your family is affected by a mental health challenge the whole family is affected.
Caring for someone living with mental health challenges can be confusing, frightening, exhausting and isolating.
However, you do not have to go through it alone. Our Carer Peer Workers draw upon their own lived experience of caring to offer support in a non-judgmental safe space.
Mental Health Carers, whether or not the person they support has received a formal diagnosis, are individuals who willingly offer assistance to someone living with a mental health challenge.
Their support can encompass a wide range of practical tasks, such as preparing meals, maintaining a clean environment, accompanying to appointments, handling administrative matters, or taking care of daily errands.
Some may simply see themselves as a parent, sibling, aunt, uncle, grandparent, or friend, but it’s important to recognise that they play a vital role as mental health carers.
Our Carer Peer Workers draw upon their own lived experience of caring to offer support in a non-judgmental safe space.
Our Carer Peer Workers can provide support if you just need someone to talk to or they can complement family support counsellors through offering 1-1 support via telephone, online or in person, when their counselling has ceased and they require additional support.
Our peer workers can offer either a one-off conversation, 1-1 telephone regular support, referrals to HelpingMinds Counsellors or Advocates.
We can offer up to 6 free sessions after our services have been deemed suitable for you during the intake process.
