At HelpingMinds, we understand the importance of providing tailored support to individuals and families affected by mental health challenges. Whether it’s empowering young carers who support loved ones or offering early intervention to address emerging mental health challenges, our goal is to provide the right care at the right time.
HelpingMinds is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people by adopting the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations of the Australian Government. We promote a family-inclusive culture with children and their families to ensure children’s voices are heard about decisions that affect their lives, Read more about our commitment to child safety.
Growing up around mental health challenges can have a big impact on young people. It can be confusing, scary and frustrating when a family member lives with mental health challenges. To help young people understand what’s going on around them and how best to cope with the challenges, HelpingMinds offers a variety of free youth mental health support services and programs that are fun, informative and empowering. Our programs are facilitated by mental health professionals as well as carers with lived experiences who can relate to and help young people.
Who we help: Young people in Western Australia aged 7-17 years who have a family member living with mental health challenges.
The majority of mental health challenges will emerge before the age of 25. The earlier that young people at risk receive support the more likely they are to cope with challenging situations and emotions.
It is easy for young people to be overwhelmed by their emotions if they have no one to talk to, if they feel mis-understood or if they have no one around them that they trust. The ‘right’ support will provide them with tools and techniques to develop resilience and mental and emotional strength, and will steer them away from negative habits and behaviours.
Who we help: Young people (aged 7-17) living in City of Swan, Geraldton, Carnarvon, Broome
