Navigating a relationship can be challenging under the best of circumstances, however when one partner is living with a mental health challenge, or another loved one ( maybe a child or an older parent) is experiencing mental health challenges, complexities in the relationship can intensify.
We understand the unique dynamics that mental health challenges can bring into a relationship. Our specialised mental health couples counselling services are designed to provide a safe, supportive space where both partners can explore their feelings, improve communication, and develop strategies to strengthen their bond.
At HelpingMinds, we respect the uniqueness of your relationship, prioritise listening, and empower you with skills to navigate your journey together. We offer 12 sessions of couples counselling funded by the Mental Health Commission, specifically tailored to address issues related to mental health carer stress, at no cost to carers or families.
Counselling sessions are available either in person at a HelpingMinds office or through video conferencing.
In couples counselling, focused on mental health carer stress, you can expect:
Gain deeper insights into your family’s mental health journey, develop a better understanding of each family member’s experiences, and learn supportive strategies without placing blame.
Discover and build upon your relationship’s strengths, rediscover what initially brought you together, clarify mutual aspirations, and find ways to enhance your partnership.
Strengthen emotional intimacy by learning effective communication techniques and deepening your understanding of each other’s emotions and needs.
Work together to identify and resolve challenges, fostering mutual understanding and improving your ability to communicate effectively as partners.
Reduce uncertainty by identifying early signs of challenges and creating a proactive plan to access necessary support or seek help promptly if needed in the future.
